Team Shade – No Star Bash XII

Client: Team Shade
Production: Wagner Media
Role: Producer, Director, Director of Photography, Editor

No Star Bash XII is one of the Midwest drifting community's most anticipated grassroots events, bringing together drivers, teams, and fans for a weekend centered around competition, creativity, and automotive culture. The project was created to capture the spirit of the event while showcasing the drivers, vehicles, and community that make grassroots drifting unique.

Produced as a cinematic event film, the goal was to tell a story that extended beyond the on-track action. Coverage focused on the complete event experience, from early morning preparations and pit activity to intense tandem battles and the camaraderie shared throughout the weekend. The final film was designed to immerse viewers in the atmosphere of the event while highlighting the passion and dedication of the drivers and teams involved.

As producer, director, cinematographer, and editor, Dan Wagner led every stage of the project from planning and production through post-production. The production combined long-lens action coverage, handheld documentary filmmaking, detail-focused automotive cinematography, and environmental storytelling to create a film that balanced high-energy motorsports action with authentic moments behind the scenes.

The edit was crafted to capture the pace and intensity of drifting while maintaining a strong narrative flow, giving viewers a sense of what it feels like to be part of the event rather than simply watching it. The resulting film helped showcase the culture of grassroots drifting while providing Team Shade with a compelling piece of content for promotion, community engagement, and future event marketing.
